Detectives investigating an assault in Huddersfield town centre have released a CCTV image of a man they want to trace.

Police would like to speak to anyone who can identify the man pictured following an assault at Cross Church Street.

The incident happened at around 4.30am on Saturday July 23, but police only released details today.

A 30-year-old man and the suspect intervened in an ongoing altercation between two other men on Cross Church Street. 

The 30-year-old was assaulted by the suspect and received serious leg injuries which required hospital treatment. 

Detective Constable Craig Foulkes of Kirklees CID said; “I would appeal to anyone who recognises the man in the CCTV image to come forward with any information they may have.  

“Enquiries into this assault remain ongoing and anyone who recognises the man or who has any information should contact Huddersfield CID on 101 referencing crime number 13160315800. ”
