Goole houses targeted by intruders and car thieves

Police are investigating two similar cases in East Yorkshire where houses have been broken into and car keys and then the vehicle have been stolen.

A house on Jefferson Street in Goole was broken into between 11.30pm on August 18 and 7am on August 19 where intruders took a laptop and the keys to a grey VW Golf, which was stolen.

Also, a house on Newport Street in Goole was broken into between 10.30pm on August 18 and 8.30am on August 19. A mobile phone was taken as well as keys to a silver Vauxhall Corsa, which was stolen from the drive.

A spokesperson for Humberside Police said: "It is not known if the two incidents are connected, however we would remind residents to ensure that all doors and locked and windows are closed when they go to bed. Make sure they hide the keys to their homes and cars as opportunist thieves will look in obvious places."
