Knife raider's botched raid at Yorkshire Subway fast food store

A KNIFE-wielding would-be robber fled empty handed after a botched raid at a Subway sandwich cafe in Selby.

Police said the man entered the Subway cafe on Gowthorpe at around 8.30pm last night (Sun Jan 23) and threatened a member of staff with a knife while demanding money from the till.

The member of staff refused to hand over any money and the suspect left the shop empty-handed.

The suspect is described as white, aged in his mid-twenties to mid-thirties, over 5ft, 7in tall and of slim build.

He was wearing a black scarf covering his face, a black beanie hat with a black hooded top over the hat and long sleeves. He wore black gloves, black jeans and white trainers.

Anyone who was in the area between 8.25pm and 8.55pm and witnessed the incident or saw a man matching the suspect’s description is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2 and ask for York Serious Crime Team.
