LIVE INCIDENT: Worker crushed to death at West Yorkshire textile mill

An investigation has been launched into the death of a man who was reportedly crushed by a machine at a West Yorkshire textile mill.

Police were called to reports of a work-related death at Victoria Mills, in the village of Golcar, near Huddersfield, this morning.

The incident was reported to have taken place at I.F.G. Drake, also known as Drake Extrusion Ltd, a manufacturer of coloured polypropylene fibres and yarns

Emergency services including fire and ambulance attended at a premises on Victoria Lane at around 2:10am.

A 51-year-old man suffered serious injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene, West Yorkshire Police said today.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and Coroner have been notified and police will be investigating the death.
