Man fled scene after assaulting woman in Huddersfield street

Police today said a number of people are believed to have seen the altercation, which happened at around 5.50pm on Friday in Zetland Street, Huddersfield.

Some had also stopped to help the woman who fell to the floor after being assaulted.

A police spokesman said the man and woman had been involved in an argument in the street prior to the assault and the man fled the scene afterwards.

Officers went on to arrest 47-year-old man who has been released on bail.
