A wanted man from York has been arrested following a stabbing in the city.

Dean Barrett, 28, was arrested yesterday in connection with the stabbing in Tang Hall last weekend.

A 30-year-old man had been taken to hospital with stabs wounds to his body after officers were called to reports of a disturbance in Etty Avenue at around 12.10am on Saturday.

Two men had been arrested in connection with the investigation already but police issued a wanted appeal to trace Barrett earlier this week.

Following his arrest yesterday, Barrett was questioned and released on police bail while enquiries continue.

The two other men remain on police bail.
