Residents being warned of post scam in Huddersfield

Police are hunting a post scammer who is using the details of unsuspecting home-owners to apply for credit cards in their names.

West Yorkshire Police say that there have been a number of incidents over recent weeks in the Almondbury area of Huddersfield.

It is thought the suspect is following postmen on their rounds and then immediately removing the post from properties that have external letterboxes and so the homeowners may not even be aware that a credit card has been applied for.

He has run off several times after being challenged by residents and hidden in people’s gardens say police.

He is described as a black African male, around 30-years-old, five feet, six to eight inches tall, of stocky build with short black hair. He was wearing a black leather jacket, dark blue jeans, black shoes and was carrying a dark leather satchel type bag, which was worn across his body and an old newspaper.
