Taxi drivers assaulted in row over fare

Two taxi drivers were assaulted in Hull in a row about a fare.

Humberside Police say that a driver picked up a fare from Fuel nightclub at 2.30am on December 29. He took two men and two women to First Lane in Anlaby and Well Lane in Willerby where the women respectively left the taxi.

The driver then took the two men back to the city centre and picked up a third man outside Fuel.

A verbal altercation about the fare took place inside the taxi and resulted in the driver being assaulted by his passengers on Ferensway.

Another taxi driver who came to the assistance of his colleague was also assaulted. The incident resulted in the driver sustaining a broken jaw and the other

facial bruising.

Police have described the three men as white and aged 18 to 25. One is 5ft 5” of stocky build with short dark hair, wearing a grey hooded top. The second is 6ft tall, medium build, wearing a dark top. The third man is around 5ft 5” tall of slim build.

They are now appealing for witnesses and the two women who were taken by taxi to Anlaby and Willerby to call 101 quoting reference 2239614.
