Dad's story inspires charity ball fund-raisers
A touching blog, written by a young father dying from Motor Neurone Disease moved sisters Kelly Carrotte and Hayley Forster so much they vowed to continue his efforts to raise funds and awareness of the disease.
Neil Platt from Harrogate actively campaigned for more funding for research into MND before his death earlier this year aged 34.
His legacy continues with a major fundraising event, Lots, Frocks and Dickie Bows to be held at the Royal Armouries in Leeds on Friday September 4.
Proceeds from the dinner dance and auction will be split equally between the Motor Neurone Disease Association and the Sheffield Institute for Translational Neuroscience (SiTraN).
Kelly, from Ossett, said: "Neil was a truly inspirational man whose story touched a great many people. We are determined to raise as much money as possible to help to find treatments and one day a cure for this disease."
Guests attending the event are promised a red carpet welcome, drinks reception with jazz band and a three-course dinner. Confirmed lots for the auction include a seven-night skiing / snow boarding holiday in the French Alps, a flying experience at Sherburn-in-Elmet Airfield, and a signed t-shirt from Olympic gold medalist Sir Chris Hoy.
Tickets are on sale at 50 per head or 450 for a
table of 10. Visit www.lotsfrocksandbows.co.cc or contact 07960 296409.
