SMALL and independent business owners will get the opportunity to quiz one of the UK’s latest tech start-up companies, Droplet, at an event in Yorkshire.
Droplet is reckoned to be the world’s only transaction free mobile app that lets people pay and collect loyalty rewards on their phone, and one of its co-founders will be sharing his insights and experiences of setting up the company.
Co-founder of Droplet, Steffan Aquarone, will be speaking on September 23 as part of Hello Work’s new series of ‘First Time Founders’ events at Leeds Dock. The event will be followed by a VIP menu tasting preview at the newly-opened Caffeine & Co.
Droplet has secured £575,000 of crowdfunding to enable the roll-out of its payment and rewards system and officially launched in Leeds last month. More than 25 local independent retailers have already signed up, including Café 164, Tall Boys Beer Market, BangWok and several merchants in Leeds Corn Exchange.
“We chose Leeds as one of the first cities to launch in as we know it’s one of the fastest growing and most vibrant in the UK. It has a thriving food and drink scene and an army of independent retailers prepared to be part of a ‘quiet’ payment and customer loyalty revolution,” said Mr Aquarone.
“I’m looking forward to meeting some of the city’s entrepreneurs and start-up businesses so that I can hopefully add to that by sharing some interesting stories and useful tips.”
Hello Work is a successful workplace platform, which offers co-working and hot-desking space, as well as events and other support for the small and independent business community.
