Ebor Festival day two is postponed

DAY TWO of the Ebor Festival at York has been postponed, due to the waterlogged course which put paid to Tuesday's programme.

Heavy overnight rain on the Knavesmire left Tuesday's meeting untenable and the decision was taken to postpone the Wednesday racing at a 4pm inspection.

There will be another inspection at noon to decide whether Thursday's programme will go ahead.

Tuesday's six-race card was set to feature a mouthwatering duel between Duke Of Marmalade and New Approach in the Juddmonte International Stakes.

Clerk of the course William Derby accepted he was left with no option but to abandon Tuesday's programme.

He said: "We've abandoned racing for today following 11mm of overnight rain.

"There has also been continuing rain this morning, which started up again at around 8am."

Tuesday's three Group races have been rescheduled for later in the week following negotiations with the British Horseracing Authority and other parties.

Keep checking the website for updates throughout the day.
