AN INDEPENDENT girls’ school in Yorkshire has announced that Sylvia Brett will be its next principal.

She will be taking up the post at Harrogate Ladies’ College from September this year.

It follows the appointment of the college’s current principal Rhiannon Wilkinson as headmistress of Wycombe Abbey school.

Mrs Brett is currently the deputy head at Roedean school.

She graduated from Durham University and has an MA from the University of London.

She also has previous teaching experience at Caldicott boys’ preparatory school and Downe House girls’ school in Berkshire, where she was head of lower school.

Sarah Pullan, the chair of governors at Harrogate Ladies’ College, said: “We were incredibly impressed by what Sylvia Brett has achieved and her ideas to build on the positive changes and developments at Harrogate Ladies’ College that Rhiannon Wilkinson has put in place in developing an environment of lifelong learning.”
