Elderly woman ‘critical’ after Skipton crash

A 93-year-old woman is in a critical condition after the car she was driving was involved in a serious collision near Skipton.

The woman was behind the wheel of a silver Honda Jazz car which collided with a purple-coloured Ford Fiesta on the A65 at the Draughton bypass at about 12.35pm on Sunday.

She was taken to Leeds General Infirmary by air ambulance with injuries described as critical.

The 64-year-old female driver of the Ford was taken to Airedale Hospital with less serious injuries.

The road was closed for about six hours while police conducted an investigation into the cause of the collision.

Any witnesses are asked to contact North Yorkshire Police via 101.
