National property consultancy Carter Jonas has bought Peter Greenwood & Co, an independent firm of chartered surveyors, land and estate agents in Boroughbridge.
The deal will make Carter Jonas the principal estate management practice in the region with 85,000 acres in Yorkshire and Scotland.
Established by Peter Greenwood in 1988, the firm is predominantly a rural practice.
Carter Jonas has a network of 24 offices across the country, with three in Yorkshire, in York, Harrogate, and Leeds.
As from today Peter Greenwood & Co will trade as Carter Jonas LLP in Boroughbridge.
Carter Jonas’s chief executive Mark Granger, who lives in Harrogate, said: “This merger is in line with our firm’s strategy to continue expanding nationally and further strengthen our established business in the North.

A number of senior Peter Greenwood & Co managers will be moving over to Carter Jonas.
Peter Greenwood and John Hoddinott will be joining as partners.
James Bradley will come in as a senior associate and Simon Brown and Neil Colver will join as associates.
Carter Jonas’s clients include international companies and major institutions as well as private landowners and homeowners.
It also runs major schemes for public bodies and is a leading firm in running science parks.
In addition it looks after the property interests of cathedrals, colleges and charities.
Peter Greenwood & Co has a specialist residential sales department selling a range of properties including country cottages, period and modern town houses, village properties with land and country estates.
It also offers its clients advice on planning and development matters.
