THE benefits to small and medium-sized businesses of taking on apprentices are to be showcased at an upcoming event in Leeds.

During National Apprenticeship Week, Employment Leeds is hosting the business breakfast where businesses can also find out what grants are available to support them.

The event, backed by the National Apprenticeship Service, is at the Carriageworks on March 15 from 8.30am until 10.30am.

Coun Adam Ogilvie, Leeds City Council executive board member for leisure and skills, said: “Employment Leeds works across a wide range of sectors and industries, and specialises in helping SMEs with their recruitment and work force development needs.

“Building on the success of our previous campaigns, this event will launch the Leeds Apprenticeship Challenge 2013 to secure pledges from 150 of the city’s businesses to each create at least 150 apprenticeship places in 100 days.”

Businesses interested in attending will need to confirm their attendance by emailing employmentleeds@leeds.gov.uk
