Four men arrested on suspicion of attempted kidnap of young girl in Ripon UPDATED

FOUR men from West Yorkshire are today being quizzed by police after being arrested on suspicion of attempting to kidnap a 13-year-old girl in Ripon.

North Yorkshire Police were called to Clotherholme Road in Ripon just after 3pm yesterday after receiving a report that at a 13-year-old girl had been approached by two men in a white van

Police stopped a white Ford Transit van on the A62 just before 4.30pm.

Four men in the van aged 36, 26, 22 and 20, who are all from West Yorkshire, were arrested on suspicion of attempted kidnap and conspiracy to kidnap.

They remain in custody today

Officers are investigating whether the incident is linked to a separate report involving a 10-year-old boy on Lead Lane, Ripon, on Saturday September 12.

Police have increased patrols in the Ripon area to provide reassurance to local communities, and extensive enquiries are ongoing into these incidents.
