YORKSHIRE-based utility infrastructure provider Fulcrum is set to double the size of its workforce.
All of the company’s utilities projects across England and Wales will be managed in-house from April 1, after the conclusion of a deal with infrastructure services provider McNicholas.
Sheffield-based Fulcrum designs and delivers water, gas and electric pipelines and connections. It recently announced its first operating profit after a major restructuring process. In this latest move, staff employed by McNicholas under the current structure will be transferring to Fulcrum, doubling the size of the company’s workforce to more than 230.
Fulcrum chief executive Martin Donnachie said: “Our move to take direct management of our delivery is a logical step in enabling us to provide the best customer service in the industry. In particular, the change makes Fulcrum more agile in terms of how it will deliver for its customers. Operating as one organisation will also allow us to accelerate some of our other plans such as improving our multi-utility capability. The new approach will be profit enhancing in the financial year ending March 2016 and thereafter.
