ONE bad apple spoils the barrel, but a bathtub full of ripe ones heralds five days of fruit-themed festivities at Beningbrough Hall.
Des Cotton garden and parkland manager at the hall, near York, takes a bath with fruit at the start of the apple celebrations at the Hall, which begin today.
The events include a traditional fruit display in the newly opened garden room, apple tasting, testing and pressing.
Gardeners at Beningbrough, which grows more than 40 varieties of apples, say it has been a bumper year for most produce as the warm spring brought so many insects to pollinate the trees.
