Hat-trick hero Hoggard wants to stay with Headingley club... if the deal is right
MATTHEW HOGGARD rolled back the years with a hat-trick at Hove – and then reiterated his desire to stay at Yorkshire.
After helping the club to a dramatic 156-run win against Sussex that eased their County Championship relegation fears, the former England pace bowler made it clear he wants to remain at Headingley Carnegie.

Hoggard, 32, will be out of contract at the end of the summer and a number of clubs are purported to be interested in his services, including champions Durham.
The player has made no secret of the fact he is weighing up his options after stalling on a new deal at the start of the year but stressed his preferred option is to stay at Yorkshire.
"I haven't signed a new deal yet but hopefully we can eke out something that both parties are happy with," said Hoggard, who took 4-29 in the Sussex second innings to help all-but guarantee survival.
"I'm still in talks with the club and I'm sure we'll sit down again at the end of the season. I'm a Yorkshire lad through and through but, at the end of the day, it's my job and my career that I have to think about. I have to do what's right for myself and my family."
Hoggard's hat-trick was the 52nd by a Yorkshire player and the first since Craig White against Gloucestershire at Gloucester in 1998.
The 2005 Ashes star had Andy Hodd caught behind, bowled Dwayne Smith and then had Piyush Chawla held at second slip by Jonathan Bairstow to swing a vital match in Yorkshire's favour.
It was the second hat-trick of Hoggard's career after he famously captured the wickets of Ramnaresh Sarwan, Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Ryan Hinds for England against the West Indies in the Barbados Test of 2004.
"It was nice to get another hat-trick but it was a fluke really," said Hoggard, pictured right, who is Yorkshire's leading wicket-taker in first-class cricket this summer with 45 at 29.77. "You don't see hat-tricks every day but it was even nicer to see Yorkshire get a win.
"We fought really hard to beat Sussex and, at one point, it looked as though there were only two results possible – a draw or a Sussex victory.
"Thankfully we managed to turn it around and hopefully we can finish off now with a good performance in our last match."
