IT IS not for the faint-hearted.

Patients can watch live surgery via a videolink at Goole Hospital to showcase orthopaedic services such as shoulder, knee and hip surgery, and treatment of sports injuries.

There will be two opportunities to watch operations direct from the hospital’s theatres with knee surgery carried out by surgeon Ricardo Pacheco and a shoulder operation by colleague Grant Bayne. There will be a question and answer sessions and a tour of the hospital’s wards and theatres.

Surgery and critical care general manager Anthony Fitzgerald said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for people including local GPs and members of the public to see what the hospital has to offer patients who need orthopaedic procedures.”

To book a place at the event from 9am to 3.30pm on Thursday, May 8, ring Rachel Pollard on 01472 874111 extension 22468 or email r.pollard@nhs.net.
