MORE than 150 homes will be built on the former Doncaster Rovers’ football ground.
Barratt Homes Yorkshire East will build 151 homes on land that used to house Belle Vue, the home to Rovers from 1922 to 2006, after Doncaster Council’s planning committee granted permission yesterday.
The council’s cabinet member for housing, Coun Chris Mills, said the development would help to “improve an already thriving area”.
Meanwhile, the committee agreed to back a new waste transfer station at Kirk Sandall, subject to referral of the application to the Secretary of State.
The waste transfer station is part of a partnership between Barnsley and Rotherham councils that would help to reduce household waste going to landfill in the three towns by up to 98.9 per cent and reduce carbon footprint.
