Hull City, Wednesday, Blades, Rovers, Huddersfield, Rotherham, Bradford and York matches all off
HULL CITY'S Premier League game against Chelsea has been postponed due to the bad weather, taking the tally to eight Yorkshire clubs without a fixture this weekend.
The matches at Hillsborough, Don Valley Stadium, Vicarage Road, Vale Park, Deepdale, St Mary's and Newport involving Yorkshire clubs were all called off yesterday.
Hull's game with leaders Chelsea was set to kick-off the football weekend in front of the Sky television cameras on Saturday lunchtime.
Wednesday's Championship fixture with Peterborough United has been postponed due to safety concerns.
Sheffield United's trip to Watford has also fallen victim to the weather.
Doncaster's match at Preston is also off, as is Rotherham's scheduled League Two home game against Bourneouth.
And in League One, Huddersfield's trip to Southampton scheduled for Saturday has been postponed.
The League Two fixture between Bradford City and Port Vale at Vale Park has also failed a 1.30pm inspection.
And on Friday morning, York City's visit to Newport County in the second round of the FA Carlsberg Trophy was postponed.
The pitch at Hillsborough was protected by undersoil heating but areas immediately surrounding the stadium have been covered in a thick blanket of snow, rendering roads and pavements in the vicinity treacherous.
Wednesday chief executive Nick Parker said: "While we are still two days away from the fixture against Peterborough, the areas surrounding Hillsborough Stadium are covered in snow and ice.
"It is highly unlikely these areas could be cleared to the extent that would allow fans to come to the game and be guaranteed of their safety.
"Obviously the safety of our supporters is the club's main concern in these circumstances and we would not want to put fans in danger by encouraging them to use icy roads and pavements around Hillsborough."
