NATALIE Sykes, the regional director of the Institute of Directors (IoD) in Yorkshire and the North East, has taken on an influential role that aims to encourage more employers to take on apprentices.
As deputy chairman of the Ambassador Apprenticeship Network (AAN) for Yorkshire and the Humber, Ms Sykes will help education providers, business organisations and employers to raise awareness of the benefits of apprenticeships.
The appointment comes as the IoD extends its student membership scheme to include anyone working towards a Higher Apprenticeship - a pilot scheme in Yorkshire.
Student membership benefits include business mentoring, networking and internships. The move is a further strengthening of the partnership between the IoD and the National Apprenticeship Service.
