MARKETING business Weare2020 has acquired Sheffield-based creative agency Iris Associates, which it says will strengthen its brand communications proposition.

Weare2020 has a turnover of £37.2m and 480 staff in its branches across the UK, including around 90 at its Sheffield base, while Iris Associates has 20 staff with a turnover of £2m.

Meanwhile, Weare2020 has made some changes to its structure, creating two divisions: a marketing company called 2020 and a consulting firm called 2020 Consulting.

2020 will be structured around three core areas; brand communications, digital marketing and contact centre services.

David Wood and Maria Vardy, who are currently managing partners of Iris Associates, will become joint managing directors of brand communications.

Martin Boddy, chief executive of 2020, said: “This acquisition makes a huge amount of sense for both parties.

“It considerably strengthens both our brand communications proposition and our Sheffield operation.

“This is great news for our people and for ambitious marketing teams, particularly those based in the north of England, who are looking for a well resourced, forward thinking and committed agency partner.”

Mr Wood said: “Following our success in securing significant client wins over recent years, this move will enable us to broaden and deepen these relationships.

“There is a very positive revolution going on at 2020 and it’s going to be great to be a part of it.”
