Kent force Yorkshire to settle for draw
YORKSHIRE have been forced to settle for a draw with Kent at Scarborough in the four-day County Championship match.
Yorkshire held a first innings lead of 230 runs after whipping out Kent for 227 and responding with 457, built on Jacques Rudolph's 146.
But Kent hit back in the second innings, making a competitive 433 with Nick Dexter top-scoring with 105, Martin van Jaarsveld adding 73, Joe Denly 66 and James Tredwell making it four over a half-century with 54.
Navad-ul-Hasan was the best Yorkshire bowler with figures of 4-86.
Yorkshire then failed to wrap up victory in front of an expectant Scarborough Festival crowd at North Marine Road, as they closed on 175-9.
Adam Lyth was the top scorer with 52 but Michael Vaughan - playing his first match since resigning as England captain - was out for a duck.
Yorkshire took 12 points from the draw, Kent earned seven.
