The Humber LEP made the announcement as it published its annual report which revealed its spending had helped create almost 3,000 jobs over the last four years.

Humber LEP chairman Lord Haskins said: “The Humber is experiencing significant economic growth and we want to make sure that can continue.

“By addressing bottlenecks and improving access to Enterprise Zone sites we can ensure that the region remains an attractive place for businesses to grow and invest.

“The Stoneferry Road corridor improvement will be an important addition to the programme of transport and infrastructure projects we are supporting across the Humber.”

The LEP’s annual report said the body, which brings together councils and the private sector to grow the local economy, has so far invested £105m of public money which has brought in close to £250m from business.

Projects completed over the last year included improvements to flood defences at Paull and regeneration work in Grimsby town centre.

Hull City Council is drawing up the final plans for the Stoneferry Road improvements which will tackle congestion spots, improve journey times and provide better pedestrian facilities.
