ENTREPRENEUR and marketer Nigel Botterill and best-selling business author Mike Southon are among the key speakers who will present at Venturefest Yorkshire next week.
The organisers of the one-day science, technology and IP expo have sold all exhibition space and have competition prizes totalling £41,000 worth of business support services.
Held at York Racecourse on Wednesday, February 8, Venturefest expects to welcome up to 2,000 investors, entrepreneurs and the businesses that support them, alongside 31 of the region’s young companies in the Innovation Showcase, sponsored by Science City York.
Among the exhibitors is Sheffield research facility, The Mercury Centre, which offers expertise in engineering capabilities and powder-based manufacturing to help support the region’s economic development.
The Mercury Centre will demonstrate 3D printing and exhibit components made using the latest manufacturing techniques.
Seminar and speaker highlights include a keynote address from Mr Botterill, who has built eight different million pound businesses in seven years. He will give a talk on ‘Nine secrets that super successful business owners know and do... that most business owners either don’t know or don’t do’.
Serial entrepreneur Mr Southon will present material and ideas from his best-selling books including The Beermat Entrepreneur. Chris Wilson, project manager at Venturefest Yorkshire, said: “This is one of the few events left in the region that gives genuine advice, support and information for science, technology and IP-based entrepreneurs. With the demise of Business Link and Yorkshire Forward, an event such as Venturefest should be championed by the business community to encourage and harness the entrepreneurial spirit Yorkshire has to offer.”
