Leeds United v Hartlepool United: Leeds players take the praise from Grayson
League One: SIMON GRAYSON has paid tribute to the Leeds players who have helped make his first year in charge such a resounding success.
The 40-year-old, appointed shortly before Christmas last year, has watched United collect an impressive 102 points from 46 league games.
Grayson, whose first game as Leeds manager was a year ago today when Leicester were held to a 1-1 draw in front of 33,580 fans at Elland Road, said: "When you get a job, nine times out of 10 it is because the team has not been successful. I could see the team was struggling for confidence and we had to act quickly.
"I had kept my eye on what was happening even when at Blackpool because I am a fan and I didn't think it needed too much altering. It meant I had an insight already.
"A lot of the players who were involved in my first game are still here. They deserve a lot of credit."
