Leeds United receive no bids for wantaway Jermaine Beckford

LEEDS United chairman Ken Bates says the club has yet to receive any firm offers for Jermaine Beckford.

Newcastle United, Middlesbrough, Coventry City, Doncaster Rovers, Barnsley and Sheffield United have all been linked with the transfer-listed striker who has rejected the offer of a new deal at Elland Road.

"So far, we have had tentative enquiries about Becks but there has been no offers," said Bates. "So he is still a Leeds United player and we're looking forward to him scoring another 30 goals next season."

Beckford is willing to stay with Leeds until his contract expires next summer but, at that stage, would be entitled to walk away on a free transfer.

Leeds manager Simon Grayson is believed to be interested in Carlisle United striker Danny Graham as a possible replacement. Graham, who scored 16 goals last season, played three games on loan for Leeds three seasons ago.

FIFA have removed television monitors from the sidelines in the Confederations Cup following Howard Webb's controversial penalty decision on Monday.

The president of world football's governing body, Sepp Blatter, confirmed the step had been taken after FIFA examined the awarding of the critical spot-kick in the match between Brazil and Egypt.

"There is no more video use in front of the fourth official on the side of the field," Blatter said. "So now no-one can say there is interference in any decisions on the basis of video."

The penalty was awarded for a handball on the line but the decision was only given after the player received treatment for an injury, with Webb initially indicating a corner to Brazil.

Egypt claimed the officials referred to video evidence, which is against the rules.
