Letters July 22: Councils and the living wage

Have your say

From: Chris Broome, Hackthorn Road, Sheffield.

MIKE Padgham (The Yorkshire Post, July 13) is right to ask how social care workers can be paid the new “National Living Wage” when council budgets are being cut so severely.

There are increasing reports of poor and rushed care, delivered by underpaid staff.

If we want to live in a civilised society, we should accept taxes have to be raised, from those that can afford them, to pay for quality public services.

From: Dick Lindley, Altofts, Normanton.

THE Greece crisis shows us
quite clearly that the EU
has no regard for national sovereignty and is determined
to rule over the European peoples as though they were
its subjects.
