A DOG found tortured and burned to death in Sheffield “suffered terribly”, police have said.
Officers believe the light coloured Staffordshire Bull Terrier was severely beaten before it was tied to a tree and set alight.
The incident happened some time between last Monday and yesterday in the Skye Edge area of Sheffield.
Now police are trying to trace the dog’s owners as well as the perpetrators.
South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Sometime between Monday February 18 and Sunday February 24 on a path off Manor Laith Road, near to the allotments, a light coloured Staffordshire Bull Terrier male dog is believed to have been severely beaten, before reportedly being tied to a tree and set on fire.
“Officers believe the dog suffered terribly before dying.
“Police would like to speak to anyone that may have seen this dog in the area at this time, or who may have lost a dog that fits this description.”
