A MAN has been left badly hurt when he was knocked down as he tried to stop his van being stolen yesterday.
The 43-year-old was injured while attempting to prevent his white Ford Transit van being stolen in Moorwell Road, Scunthorpe, at 12.48pm yesterday.
He was taken to Scunthorpe General Hospital where he is being treated for serious injuries.
The offender then drove the van for a short distance before abandoning it on Hoylake Road at 1.08pm.
Witnesses have told police that the suspect was then seen getting into another vehicle – which is believed to be a 56-plate blue Peugeot estate – which reportedly drove off at speed.
Officers investigating the incident are now appealing for help in tracing the blue Peugeot, which may have travelled outside the Scunthorpe area.
A spokeswoman for Humberside Police said: “Police were called following reports of a man being knocked over by a white-coloured Transit van.
