A MAN has been rescued by firefighters after falling down a cliff into a quarry in Doncaster.

South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said the man is believed to have fallen around 10 to 15 metres onto a ledge at the quarry on Hirst Lane in Stainton at around 9.20pm last night (Friday).

A spokesperson said: “A firefighter using the rope equipment was able to scale down the cliff to the man, securing a harness around him and lowering him the remaining 10m to the ground.

“The man was then taken to hospital by ambulance.”
