A man’s body has been recovered from the River Aire in Leeds city centre following a four-hour search this morning.
Emergency services were called to Leeds Bridge, at the bottom of Lower Briggate, shortly before 8am after a member of the public reported seeing a man in the water.
The man was said to have last been seen close the Riveresque Cafe, at Bridge End.
Searches were initially carried out by officers using a canoe. The police underwater search unit was then dispatched to carry out more thorough investigations.
The man’s body was discovered at about 12.15pm.
His death is not thought to be suspicious.
