RETAIL property firm Hammerson yesterday revealed that it had appointed James Hepburn, as development manager for its £150m Victoria Gate development in Leeds.

The Victoria Gate scheme is being billed as the latest piece in the jigsaw of the complete regeneration of Leeds city centre. Anchored by a flagship John Lewis store, it could be open by Autumn 2016 and is expected to provide 1,000 jobs in retail and construction.

Mr Hepburn, who joined Hammerson earlier this year, has 14 years’ experience in the retail property sector. He has worked on a range of town and city centre projects, most recently working for a retail and regeneration joint venture with Land Securities.

Mr Hepburn said: “Joining the Victoria Gate team is very exciting. Having the opportunity to work on such a unique scheme, which will bring a series of new retail brands to the city, is a great opportunity.”
