HE IS a master on the pitch, and now Rugby League player Kevin Sinfield has officially become a master off it as well.
The former England captain swapped his Leeds Rhinos kit for a cap and gown at Leeds Beckett University yesterday afternoon to receive a Masters degree in Sport Business.
The sports star, who is the highest points-scorer in the club’s history and the top points-scorer of the Super League era, has spent the last three years juggling his commitments on and off the pitch to complete the degree.
The Rhinos captain led his club to six Super League titles, one Challenge Cup victory and three World Club Challenge crowns.
Sinfield, who was awarded an MBE in 2014, is no stranger to the university after he graduated in 2008 with a degree in Sport and Exercise Science.
Emily Scarratt, who was part of England’s winning team in the 2014 Women’s Rugby World Cup, was at the ceremony to receive an honorary doctorate of Sport Science.
Welcome to Yorkshire chief executive, Sir Gary Verity, was presented with an honorary doctorate in Business Administration.
