May 13: Parking fees for disabled patients

Have your say

From: Robert Heys, Bar Lane, Sowerby Bridge, West Yorkshire.

CALDERDALE NHS Trust management has recently announced that disabled patients must pay for the use of hospital car parks when attending for treatment.

Relatives and friends visiting in-patients are also charged. Such visits hasten patient recovery and thus reduce their time in hospital, so avoiding bed blocking and cutting the costs of treatment. This should surely be encouraged rather than penalised by parking charges.

MR R Collings (The Yorkshire Post, May 11) is right – Leeds Council is playing with lives by switching off street lights at night because it wasted so much money on Leeds and Partners.
