May 21: Charles right to offer opinions

Have your say

From: William Dixon Smith, Welland Rise, Acomb, York.

WITH reference to Bill Carmichael’s column (The Yorkshire Post, May 15), the “black spider” letters will enhance the reputation of Prince Charles. Every citizen has a right to offer advice to Ministers of the Crown. If their knowledge and experience is relevant to the matter broached, it becomes a solemn duty. Whether or not the FoI request was maliciously inspired is irrelevant. There could hardly be a more apt case for the application of the dictum “Be ye ever so high, the law is above you”.
