BORDER officials have seized nearly a million cigarettes in an attempted smuggling operation at Immingham docks.
The cigarettes had been shipped to the UK inside two trailers which arrived at the port from Gothenburg, Sweden.
In the first trailer, officers discovered two pallets containing 419,000 cigarettes hidden underneath tins of biscuits. In the second, 530,000 cigarettes were found inside two pallets labelled as plastic tiles.
The goods were seized on Wednesday evening by Border Force officers but no-one was arrested.
