Police in North Yorkshire have thanked the public for their help during the search for a six-year-old girl reported missing from York.

The girl, who has not been named, went missing in the St Benedict Road area of the city at around 1.25pm.

An appeal was issued via social media as concern grew.

A spokesman said the girl had been found safe and well shortly after 2.30pm.
