POLICE in Yorkshire are using the surge in popularity of smart phones to issue crime prevention advice in the run-up to Christmas.
North Yorkshire Police announced yesterday that it has launched a mobile phone app to help keep residents safe and combat burglars throughout the festive season.
The main focus of the campaign is on personal safety, protecting property and drink and drug driving.
Chief Constable Dave Jones said: “Christmas is a time for celebration and enjoying time with family and friends, however it is important that we all take our own safety and security seriously to ensure that the festive season is as enjoyable as possible.
“Taking time to ensure that your homes and cars are secure from criminals and making sure you get home safely from nights out is especially important at this time of year.”
