Parents-to-be can now find out about local maternity services from the comfort of their own home.
A new look section on the Airedale NHS Foundation Trust website has been developed to ensure that women who are planning to have their baby at Airedale Hospital or families who want to find out more about the hospital’s maternity services, can quickly get up-to-date information. It includes information and contact details for women about both community and hospital based maternity services.
Campaign midwife, Caroline Lowe, who works on the labour ward at the Steeton hospital, has been co-ordinating the maternity website’s revamp to ensure the new information is accurate and appropriate.
Julie Hinchliffe, senior matron, midwifery at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust said:
“The website has been developed over the past 12 months and involving local mums was essential to make sure the new maternity section was relevant and addressed the needs of the local community.”
Information is available to help mums prepare for the birth of their baby, with suggestions of what to bring with them for the labour ward and after the birth as well as information about early labour signs and how to cope and different forms of pain relief. It also reminds women of the importance of simple things like washing their hands to reduce the risk of spreading infection, for both themselves and their baby. The website can be accessed via the Trust’s home page http://www.airedale-trust.nhs.uk by clicking on the Maternity Care tab.
