Murder police probe death of 35-year-old Hull man

Detectives have launched a murder investigation into the death of a 35-year-old man in Hull.

Kabelo Sam Mokoena died in hospital yesterday afternoon after being seriously injured at a property on Lee Street on Tuesday.

Police were called to the address just before 6.45pm to a report of an altercation between two men who were known to one another and the victim was taken to hospital.

A post mortem is due to take place in the coming days to establish the cause of death, Humberside Police said.

A 58-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Detective Chief Inspector Tony Cockerill, from the force’s Major Crime Team, said: “I would like to express my sympathy to Kabelo’s family at this sad time.

“We have specially trained officers actively supporting them as part of the wider investigation and keeping them informed of developments.

“My team are speaking to residents in the area to establish the full circumstances that led to Kabelo sustaining his injuries, whilst also providing community reassurance.

“I would urge anyone with information that is pertinent to the investigation to get in touch and support us with our enquiries.”
