Murder probe launched after man, 42, attacked in his Sheffield home

A murder investigation has been launched after a 42-year-old man was attacked in his home in Sheffield and died later in hospital.

Emergency crews were called to the property in Greenland Drive, Darnall, just after 1am today and found the man with serious injuries.

He was taken to hospital but died later, according to South Yorkshire Police.

A man in his 20s has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody today. It is understood the victim and the suspect are known to each other.

South Yorkshire Police say a post mortem examination will take place today to establish the cause of death and enquiries will be ongoing at the scene throughout the day.
