Television presenter Anita Rani met a recent arrival as she officially opened a new midwife-led birth centre at Bradford Royal Infirmary yesterday.
The Bradford-born broadcaster met two-month old Kayden Woolner as she was given a tour of the centre which is part of a £3.6m investment in maternity and neonatal facilities in the city.
The Bradford Birth Centre will cater for women with a low-risk pregnancy and birth, with all care provided by midwives.
Head of midwifery Julie Walker said: “Anita is a role model for women across the district and we are delighted that she has come back to the city of her birth to open our new birth centre today.”
The new birth centre and full refurbishment of a consultant-led labour ward has cost £1.2m.
