Work on developing a new railway station in Bradford has taken a major step forward.
A planning application is now due to be submitted in January for Low Moor station and if approved it could be open in December 2015.
Metro, working with Network Rail and Northern Rail, have had to demonstrate that trains could stop safely on the curve of the track where the station would be located.
The Rail Safety & Standards Board has issued a Certificate of Deviation, meaning plans for the new station can proceed.
Coun Imran Khan, Metro’s Bradford district spokesman, said: “Preparatory work by Metro and Bradford Council shows that a new station would generate significant local benefits in Low Moor and across the south Bradford area so I’m delighted that plans for the station can move forward.”
