NG Bailey, the engineering, IT and facilities services group, has been appointed as Carillion’s building services partner for the Midland Metropolitan Hospital Public Private Partnership Scheme in the West Midlands.
Ilkley-based NG Bailey said it will play a significant part in the delivery of Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust’s new scheme.
As part of the £430m construction and support services contract, NG Bailey will work alongside Carillion to help create the new state-of the-art hospital, which will have 670 beds and 15 operating theatre suites.
The firm said it has been designed to meet the best international and national standards to make it patient focused and to support the efficient delivery of high-quality clinical services.
As part of the contract, NG Bailey will manage the design and installation of the full mechanical, electrical, and plumbing installation worth around £80m, which will contain a fully digital integrated IT platform.
The new hospital will have a number of innovative design features such as a fully enclosed Winter Garden and car parking within the hospital building.
In addition, the design and construction of the hospital will meet the highest standards of sustainability.
Construction is expected to start early in 2016. Completion is scheduled for mid 2018, with the hospital opening in late 2018.
David Hurcomb, NG Bailey’s chief executive, said: “NG Bailey has a rich heritage in the delivery of healthcare projects, including the award winning St Helens and Whiston PFI scheme, which we helped to deliver six months early and on budget.”
