THE rugby league and horse racing worlds were united at St Augustine’s Church in Hedon near Hull on Thursday for the funeral of Janice Johnson, aged 57.
Mrs Johnson was the wife of racecourse bookmaker and Hull KR official Peter Johnson and worked alongside of her husband on tracks throughout the north.
Current Hull KR coach Justin Morgan plus club greats Roger Millward, Phil Lowe and Mike Smith were among the congregation.
They were joined by numerous representatives of the northern racing community.
Mrs Johnson will be particularly remembered at her local track Beverley where she was a very popular member of the betting ring.
She is survived by sons James and Joseph and step-children Richard and Sophie.
