What was your first job?

Working in a toy shop.

If you weren’t in your current position what would you be doing?

I’d own a pie shop in the Yorkshire Dales.

What’s your worst mistake?

Not doing my own thing sooner. Throughout my career I’ve made a lot of money for other people.

What is your ideal day away from the office?

A long work over the moors with my dog, then a pie and a pint with the missus in a country pub.

Name one person you’d most like to have dinner with.

Ranulph Fiennes – I think he and my grandfather are cut from the same sort of cloth.

What are your hobbies?

Dog ‘hiking’, amateur photography and indulging in a box set – The West Wing being my favourite to date.

What would you do if you won the lottery?

If I scooped the jackpot I’d start a young entrepreneur academy, the Common way.

What is your top time saving tip?

Master the art of prioritisation.

What is your favourite time of day?

Evenings, I’m a night owl. In fact, I’m known to put in quite a few late shifts at the office!

What is your favourite item of clothing?

Walking boots.

Its identity and honesty.
