What was your first job?

An admin assistant for Leeds City Council.

If you weren’t in your current position, what would you be doing?

Running another business for sure – being an entrepreneur runs in my genes.

What was your worst mistake?

Having a late night before the final selection to represent GB at football. I got through – just!

What is your ideal day away from the office?

Sitting by the sea – I feel great peace watching a constantly changing picture.

Name one person you would most like to have dinner with and why?

Can I say all my relatives? Getting a grown-up family together for a Sunday roast is becoming increasingly rare!

What was your best subject at school?

Sport, closely followed by English.

What are your hobbies?

Playing golf (averagely), travelling and dining out.

What’s your favourite item of clothing?

I don’t wear clothes well, so a good tailor-made suit.

What is your favourite time of the day?

I’m definitely a morning person, but going to bed after a hard day closely follows it.

What is the best thing about Yorkshire?

The people – what you see is what you get.

What would you like your epitaph to be?

Passionate about everything he did.
